I had a completely different idea last night about what I would write here this morning, but then I decided to go in another direction.  So this is a little bit of an extension on CHANGE that Margo wrote about the other day.  My idea of change is learning, practicing, and being FLEXIBLE with our days. The older I get the more flexible I become – not necessarily by choice!  I think you flex with all that life throws at you or you break from the pressure of trying to keep on you straight and narrow path!  Does a coworker need you to fill in an on an extra day or project when you thought you’d have the day off?  Did one appointment get rearranged, requiring you to change 3 others in your day?
For me it’s not the big stuff but the every day (or hour) of little stuff that requires the most bending.  For instance, I was going to get up early and go to the gym this morning.     But when I looked in my drawer I saw that my workout gear was all in the laundry (oh, bummer) so I skipped and had another cup of coffee.  The clothes were still in the laundry because last night, when I had PLANNED to do the laundry, I was reminded that there was a school function at a local children’s museum, so that laundry had to wait.  And I had forgotten the school function because I skipped a meeting when a friend from out of town showed up for dinner last week at the last minute!  The dinner was great, as was the school outing last night – and of course a second cup of coffee is ALWAYS better than the gym – so all of these unplanned interruptions turned out well.  The point is that while it is good to have an IDEA of what to do with our days and our weeks, be ready to change what seems like the most mundane details because if we don’t, those little things can add up to a lot of pressure.  And there could be a lot of good things missed if we don’t flex a little.
